The Working Group on Philanthropy for Social Justice and Peace, along with the Bernard van Leer Foundation, Bertelsmann Stiftung, Erasmus Centre for Strategic Philanthropy, the European Foundation Centre (EFC), and Fondazione Cariplo, sponsored a highly interactive session at the EFC conference in Cascais called “Impact Island.” The session aimed to address a number of different areas, including: reflecting upon attitudes in philanthropy toward impact analysis, investigating how context influences decisions on impact analysis, analyzing strategic approaches for applying various tools and methods, learning how to use evaluation results to communicate how foundations make a difference, and exploring practical tools and methods to analyze impact.
