Follow up to Cairo participants from Aaron Dorfman at NCRP

Dear Friends,

It was so wonderful to meet all of you last week in Cairo, and I look forward to deepening relationships with this inspiring group in the coming months.

Many of you asked me to follow up on various issues, and so I am sending this email to the entire group in case others are also interested.

I mentioned that NCRP was going to be releasing a new report, “Criteria for Philanthropy at Its Best” that calls on grantmakers to provide more funding for social justice, among other things. We released the report yesterday, and you can view the report, the press release or the executive summary by clicking here. The right-wing media has already begun attacking us over this, so we must be doing something right.

I also mentioned that NCRP had recently released a report showing a return on investment of 157 to 1 for grantmakers who supported advocacy, community organizing and civic engagement in the U.S. state of New Mexico. That report, the press release, or the executive summary can be viewed by clicking here.

Finally, NCRP has a free electronic newsletter that we distribute once a month. It contains summaries about key issues in US philanthropy and provides links to interesting articles, especially about social justice issues. You can subscribe by clicking here.

If any of you are planning to be in Washington, DC, please let me know and we’ll find time for a cup of coffee. Or if you need a place to work, you are always welcome at the NCRP offices near Dupont Circle.

Best regards,

Aaron
