Occupy Philanthropy!

Dear Friends

Donors and funders have been finding various ways to support Occupy and related efforts. Additional support is needed to maintain and build momentum, and in alliance with a growing number of funder networks, affinity groups and individuals an Occupy Philanthropy website has now been set up, whose purpose is to provide a space for donors and funders to share analysis and information, discuss and develop strategies for providing financial support to the Occupy movement and related efforts, and galvanize philanthropy as a whole to be more responsive to the call for social and economic justice so clearly and resonantly articulated by the Occupy moment.”
To help galvanize our community at this important moment an Open Letter to Our Colleagues in Philanthropy: Why We Must Support the Occupy Efforts has been drafted and posted to the website.

Please read and consider signing the letter. Please circulate it widely to donor lists and colleagues as well.

The website contains links to a few of the discussions emerging from within our organizations and networks. You can join over 100 other funders on the OccupyPhilanthropy mailing list by subscribing here. Please share analyses, articles, announcements and other relevant information through this list or by sending them to Lola@fntg.org. Additional information and opportunities for collective responses will be added to the website on a regular basis.

Special thanks to Bill Lyons and Lola Ibrahim for setting up the website, and to the half dozen funders who helped draft the Open Letter.

We hope you will join in this effort.
Mark Randazzo, FNTG
