Dear Network Participants:
Funders for LGBTQ Issues is inviting you to participate in an important research study designed to map the giving patterns of foundations across various programmatic areas, with a focus on funding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and msm issues in the Global South and East. This is a unique opportunity for foundations to benchmark their giving priorities relative to other funders and identify gaps between the priorities/approaches of funders and the emerging needs/strategies of LGBTI organizations and movements around the world.
Funders for LGBTQ Issues is an advocacy and education organization dedicated to increasing institutional giving to lesbian gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities.
They are requesting a list of grants awarded to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or MSM programs in 2010. Specifically, the information we are asking you to provide is:
- Grantee’s NAME, City, State and COUNTRY
- Grant AMOUNT (in USD if possible) and time frame (to be spent over 1, 2, 3 or 4+ years)
- Population served or addressed (lesbians, people living with HIV/AIDS, youth, etc.)
- Type(s) of support provided (general support, project, research, capacity building, technical assistance, etc.)
- Issue(s) addressed (homophobia, religion, community building, etc.)
- Grant Description (if available)
All foundations that send their grants lists will receive a full report on the findings which will allow you to see how the work of your foundation compares with the work of foundations in general, which can help to inform future funding strategies.
Please send your data by Friday, 15 July 2010 in MS Word or Excel format to wgnancy@aol.com. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nancy Cunningham, Project Coordinator (+1) 908-303-5996.
